LOCATION: Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA

SCHEDULE: PRN (4 hours per week.1 FTE).

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides radiological care for the purpose of diagnostic and/or treatment of anatomic physiological disorders within the Nuclear Medicine section.  Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal (birth to 30 days), pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Performs all routine, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involving Nuclear Medicine through proper patient positioning, technic selection, administration of radiopharmaceutical media, application and immobilization of radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedure.  This includes providing Nuclear Medicine services on call as scheduled.
  • Responsible for adhering to all radiation safety regulations as established by regulatory agencies. 
  • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals as per procedure.
  • Greets patients and confirms their identification.
  • Completely explains the procedure to patient and family as directed.
  • Performs preventive safety inspections for each room/equipment as assigned.  Calibrates equipment per standards.  Records quality control activities, reports equipment conditions to Quality Control/Materials Manager or appropriate personnel.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Receives requests, checking for special instruction from the requesting physicians; consults with radiologists as necessary.
  • Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned work station, rotating stock to eliminate outdated items.
  • Documents required information and patient history on the request and history sheet.  Documents other information as required.
  • Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required.  Performs other paperwork as applicable.
  • Participates in the clinical education of Radiology students.
  • Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Registered and certified as a technologist by the American Registry of Registered Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Med Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • CPR certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year of experience as a technologist.

  • The position requires the ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.  It is highly likely that multiple task demands are going to be required of the individual at the same time.

  • The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively.  Job requirements change frequently.  The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved instructions in mandatory.

Equipment/Tools: Computer, Phone, Copier, Printer, Fax, Gamma Camera, Survey Meters, AVI Pump, Persistence Scope, Film Cassettes, Dose Calibrator, Office Supplies, Syringe, Forcepts, Screwdriver.

Software: Microsoft Office Products, DOX, UNIX, Camera-specific software
