Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: To serve as the clinical lead for the Women’s Health Practices of LGHP and serve as the physician liaison for the Women’s Health Service Line.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • To oversee the  LGHP Women’s Health Practices and serve as a clinician liaison to the administrative lead of the Women’s Health Service line
  • To develop and implement a strategic and programmatic approach to service the healthcare needs of women across the spectrum
  • Communicate such strategy and vision to the community, the  health system, the medical group, as well as service line leadership and members
  • Oversee clinical partnerships with the specialty practices in the Women’s Specialty Center
  • Serve as a role model for Professionalism exhibiting behaviors as outlined in the LGHP Clinician Compact and the Penn Medicine Be Behaviors
  • Attend Leadership meetings of the Women’s Health Service Line, the LGHP Executive Council and Board, and the Managing Clinicians Council
  • Facilitate, mentor, and monitor leadership development of the Managing Clinicians and all direct reports; educate and coach Managing Clinicians relative to their job description. Assist in developing annual goals, provide ongoing leadership feedback, and perform annual  performance reviews for the  Managing Clinicians of the LGHP Women’s Health Practices. Conduct 90 day introductory performance evaluations for Managing Clinicians and all direct reports;
  • In support of the Managing Clinician and the Director of Operations, address clinician specific issues including, but not limited to: call schedules, undesirable behaviors, timeliness of charting, coding, quality, fitness for duty, etc.

Medical Director Continuing Medical Education functions:

  • Supervises the continuing medical education initiatives; their integration into hospital and outpatient clinical programs; and the teaching activities of the faculty and adjunct staff.
  • Oversees compliance with the requirements of all accrediting bodies of continuing education.
  • Engages more physicians at LGH to participate in medical education and to encourage their patients to participate.
  • Integrates medical education with programs of the PA College of Health Sciences where appropriate.
  • Identifies current and future facility needs for education programs and participates, as appropriate, in facility planning.
  • Participates, as appropriate, in national educational activities.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) is required, issued by the Accreditation Council on Medical Education (for M.D., D.O.) or State Board of Medicine.
  • Outstanding communication skills. 
  • Leadership roles in a hospital’s medical staff.
  • Experience in planning future strategies in health care.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Managing Physician practice experience
  • Preferred graduate from the LG Health Leadership Academy

  • The position requires strong concentration skills.  The individual must have the ability to voluntarily sustain concentration to a task over an extended period of time as a result of an effortful and usually deliberate heightened and focused state of attention.

New Learning and Memory:

  • A large portion of this position required reliance on verbal memory and new learning.  Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form, is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.  The individual must be able to attend to and process multiple bits of information simultaneously.  The individual must be able to organize and categorize this information effectively so that later recall is feasible.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Creative Thinking:

  • The position requires much autonomy of thought and problem solving.  The individual must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems.  The individual must be able to think abstractly, which is manifested in the ability to form concepts, use categories, generalize from single instances, apply procedural rules and general principles, and be aware of subtle or intrinsic aspects of a problem.  The development of hypothesis and potential solutions to problems involves careful interpretation, analysis and diagnosis.  The individual must be able to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  The individual must be able to think creatively with a degree of inventiveness, experimentation and intuition.  They must be able to deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.
