Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the Neuroscience Administrative Director position is to develop and oversee Neuroscience Services that are complimentary to the needs of our patient population.  Formulates a plan for patient care that will achieve positive patient outcomes, operational, financial and quality goals. Serves as a clinical resource for staff members. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years) and geriatric (65 years and above).

HOURS: 40 hours/week M-F with rare weekend commitments

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Develops and directs complimentary programs and services for persons with neurological disorders throughout the continuum of care. Program development aligns with the Neuroscience Service Line priorities.
  • Oversees patient care and ensures continuity of care based on clinical needs of patients in outpatient Neuroscience services. Serves as direct line manager for Neuroscience Services program-specific coordinators (i.e. Alzheimer’s/Memory Care, Headache) as well as serves as the Spine Program Coordinator. Evaluates existing services and identifies service enhancement needs/strategies for implementation.
  • Executes performance improvement and quality programs with a focus on the continuum of care. Sets expectations and goals based on service excellence and advancing neuroscience services to the community and market(s) we serve. Interfaces with other Neuroscience care providers and facilitates consensus in the development of evidence-based patient care standards, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Participates in the Neuroscience Service Line management team.  Helps to develop the overall vision and strategic direction for the Neuroscience Service Line.
  • Evaluates job performance and facilitates peer review. Develops an environment that encourages high levels of motivation among the clinical and support staff.
  • Prepares and manages budgets as appropriate to current job accountabilities. Prepares, in collaboration with finance and planning, proformas when necessary. Monitors revenue and expenses to assure budgeted goals are met.
  • Communicates and collaborates with physicians, executive leadership, and other disciplines regarding patient care.  Acts as liaison between patient, family, staff and physicians.
  • Communicates regularly with the Neuroscience Service Line Executive Director regarding progress of daily activities, specific patient concerns or event requiring administrative assistance.
  • Motivates staff development towards empowerment, ownership, autonomy to achieve positive outcomes clinically and professionally, advocates a self-directed work team.
  • Collaborates with educational personnel and staff to plan and implement orientation and ongoing educational programs.
  • Communicates regularly with physicians to develop referral relationships and to ensure operational expectations are met.
  • Works collaboratively with director of Outpatient Rehab Services and neuro therapists to build staff competency and expertise and to assure continuity of care.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in healthcare or related field
  • Three (3) years of management experience in a health care environment
  • Proven leadership and expertise in the Neurosciences – Minimum of five (5) years’ experience
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects/priorities successfully
  • Demonstrated competencies in analytical, team building and leadership skills.
  • Contemporary knowledge of process improvement techniques and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and effectively translate strategy into tangible action plans and drive results.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) years management in a health care environment, preferably Rehabilitation

  • The position requires much autonomy of thought and problem solving.  The individual must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems.  The individual must be able to think abstractly, which is manifested in the ability to form concepts, use categories, generalize from single instances, apply procedural rules and general principles, and be aware of subtle or intrinsic aspects of a problem.  The development of hypothesis and potential solutions to problems involves careful interpretation, analysis and diagnosis.  The individual must be able to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  The individual must be able to think creatively with a degree of inventiveness, experimentation and intuition.  They must be able to deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.
